A deep dive into the build

Business Background

Construction ERP was commissioned by a forward-looking organisation operating in the epc & construction space that had outgrown its legacy tooling. Leadership wanted a modern, cloud-native platform that could scale with the business, integrate cleanly with adjacent systems, and delight end users. Encogix was engaged as the end-to-end product engineering partner responsible for discovery, design, delivery and ongoing evolution.

Client Requirements

The client required a production-grade construction solution covering projects, procurement, billing and beyond. Non-functional requirements included sub-second interactions, enterprise-grade security, role-based access, complete auditability, and the ability to onboard new tenants and geographies without re-platforming. A mobile-first experience and a robust operations console were mandatory from day one.

Problems Faced

Construction firms couldn't track project margins.

Our Approach

Encogix ran a two-week discovery sprint mapping personas, journeys, data flows and success metrics. We shaped a modular architecture, prioritised a thin end-to-end vertical slice, and adopted a weekly release cadence with the client's product owner embedded in every ceremony.

Complete Solution

Projects, procurement, labour, billing and vendor ledgers. The platform was built as a composable set of services with clean domain boundaries, a design-system-driven UI, and observability wired in from the first commit.

Development Process

We followed our eight-stage delivery playbook — Discovery → UX → Architecture → Sprint Build → QA → UAT → Launch → Hypercare — with fortnightly demos, transparent burndown, and a shared Notion/JIRA workspace. Every increment shipped behind feature flags to de-risk rollout.

Challenges Solved

The biggest challenges were rationalising legacy data, hitting aggressive latency SLAs on constrained infrastructure, and building an experience that felt effortless despite deeply configurable business rules. We solved these with careful schema design, aggressive caching, background workers, and a component library tuned for accessibility and speed.

Technologies Used

Core stack included Laravel, MySQL, Vue — chosen for developer velocity, ecosystem maturity, and long-term supportability. CI/CD, IaC, secrets management and blue/green deploys were standardised on day one.

Security

Security was engineered in, not bolted on: encrypted-at-rest and in-transit data, OAuth 2.0 + JWT sessions, granular RBAC, signed audit trails, OWASP Top-10 hardening, dependency scanning in CI, and regular penetration tests. Sensitive workflows are protected with MFA and step-up authentication.

Performance Optimization

Aggressive performance budgets kept p95 interactions under 300 ms. Edge caching, HTTP/3, image pipelines, database read replicas, connection pooling and Redis-backed hot paths together delivered a snappy experience even at peak concurrency.

Mobile Responsiveness

Every surface — public site, authenticated app, admin console and native apps — is fully responsive, tested across iOS, Android, tablets and desktops with real-device labs. Touch targets, keyboard flows and screen-reader semantics meet WCAG 2.2 AA.

SEO

Public marketing and content routes ship with SSR/SSG, semantic HTML, JSON-LD schema, sitemaps, canonical URLs, OpenGraph and Twitter cards, and a Core-Web-Vitals-first performance posture that earns visibility on day one.

Scalability

The platform runs on autoscaling containers behind a global CDN, with async job queues, event-driven integrations, and a multi-region data strategy. It has been load-tested to 10× projected peak with linear cost curves.

Results Delivered

Cost overrun visibility. Business KPIs moved measurably within the first two release cycles, and the client's team was fully self-sufficient by the end of hypercare.

Future Enhancements

Roadmap items include deeper AI/ML personalisation, an open partner API, additional locale packs, and a self-serve admin marketplace — all sequenced against measurable ROI.
